Hopi Ear Candling

About Thermo-Auricular Therapy

Also known as Hopi Ear Candling, the treatment is very gentle and relaxing and usually lasts around 40 minutes.  Both ears are always treated one after the other.  You will be laid on your side in a comfortable position while your therapist sits by your head to support the candle.  On end of the candle is placed carefully into the auditory canal where it is held in place by your therapist.

The hollow candle draws a column of air through the external ear passage.  The vibrations caused have a gentle massaging effect on the eardrum.  The pressure flow also circulates a vapour around the Eustachian Tube, which helps to stimulate the flow of any ear secretion.

After the treatment, a relaxing facial massage is carried out which stimulates the pressure points on the face.

History of Thermo-Auricular Therapy

Ear candling can be traced back to Egyptian, Roman, Greek, Mayan, Aztec and North American cultures.

The Hopi candles are made of flax, beeswax and essential oils (Hypericum, Camomile and Sage).  They are hollow and have a safety filter and a maximum burn line, making them safe to use.
